about

Ineffekt is a young, prolific producer from The Netherlands who seems to have a natural connection to dance music history. When breakbeats were a thing in club land, Ineffekt wasn't even born yet. This young and talented producer worked his way back in time while dj-ing in famous Dutch clubs like Radion, Basis and Doornroosje and learning the production ropes. Nowadays he lives in Amsterdam, keeping close ties to his roots in Breda.

On his first EP for SoHaSo it's breakbeats all around. Sometimes they roll as thunder, like on the energetic opener In Blue Light or the mysterious I've Been Watching. On other moments the syncopated rhythms take the back seat to let beautiful melodies shine. Like on the IDM-ish track Nia, which recalls early material by The Black Dog.

All in all there are six tracks on this versatile EP, which comes with two remixes. A stark one from Violet and a tough one from Alonzo, who turns Nia into a brooding electro monster.

Ineffekt clearly is on a creative high. After his well received debut album Kora (Intercept) from August, this Ineffekt EP on SoHaSo is further proof of his enormous talent to make a breakbeat shine.
